Golden Generation Montessori SchoolThe Montessori Method is a child-centred alternative educational method for children, based on theories of child development originated by Italian educator Maria Montessori.
The Montessori Method is characterized by an emphasis on self-directed activity on the part of the child and clinical observation on the part of the teacher. It stresses the importance of adapting the child's learning environment to his or her developmental level, and of the role of physical activity in absorbing abstract concepts and practical skills. It is also characterized by the use of autodidactic (self-correcting) equipment for introduction and learning of various concepts.
The Montessori Method teaches reading via phonics and whole language, the comparative benefits of which are presently being recognised.
In addition to 'the basics" we feature a variety of special subjects, including instrumental and choral music, dance, art, computers, drama, Spanish and physical education. We emphasize a hands-on, learning approach as we strive towards excellence.
Our teachers are hand-picked and superbly trained, and most have been with us for many years. They create a warm, nurturing atmosphere which makes the children feel relaxed and allows them to progress and learn at their optimum rate.
Regular school hours are from 7:30am - 13:30pm.
A Note about Fundraising:
We don't do any! We feel that fund-raising is not an efficient way to spend time and energy. Your obligation ends with your tuition payment. There are no additional fees for books or materials. Your child will not be asked to sell candy or anything else. And while parents are always welcome to visit our classes, we will not expect you to help unless you want to.
